We believe that a key to running a good business is doing good for society. Kellanova Better Days™ Promise is our commitment to advancing sustainable and equitable access to food by actively addressing the intersection of wellbeing, hunger, sustainability and equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I). In doing so, we are committed to creating better days for 4 billion people by the end of 2030.

Sustainability, hunger, wellbeing and equity, diversity and inclusion are all interconnected. Our changing climate is impacting the health of people and reducing crop yields, leading to greater food insecurity. Many diverse and underserved communities are disproportionally impacted by climate change and now face higher barriers to health and access to nutritious foods. And these same communities are most at risk for undernutrition, hidden hunger as well as obesity.

For these reasons, one of the ways we are progressing towards our Kellanova Better Days™ Promise is through our leadership and efforts to engage 2 billion people in our initiatives which includes advocating for sustainable and equitable access to food. Those experiencing food insecurity need a voice, so regardless of the circumstances, we work to create positive, healthy futures for families around the world. We do so by encouraging employee volunteerism, promoting an ethical supply chain, supporting our hometown and communities where we do business, partnering with others and ensuring the health and safety of our employees.

The goal of reaching 2 billion people is based on tracking and reporting on the number of people reached annually through engagements such as:

  • Collaborating with a wide variety of stakeholders, including employees, customers, consumers, suppliers, investors, communities and government officials.
  • Encouraging employee volunteerism to support the places we live and work.
  • Driving action through on-pack engagements, traditional media and social media impressions, and online advocacy via Kellanova and brand websites and other platforms.

Kellanova will report on our progress toward these commitments in our initial Environmental, Social and Governance Report that we will issue in 2025. 

How we’re engaging people in advocating for sustainable and equitable access to food:

We are committed to engaging 2 billion people by

  • Advocating for food security, human rights, diversity and inclusion through our external partnerships, human rights strategy, and equity, diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Supporting our communities through employee volunteerism by tracking volunteer activities that help us achieve our Kellanova Better Days™ Promise, with two hours of volunteer time equaling one person engaged in a volunteer activity.
  • Providing wellbeing education to help people make informed food choices by tracking the number of people trained, reached or supported through Kellanova wellbeing programs. 
  • Driving action by engaging people in commercial and digital campaigns, and measuring engagement through:
    • Consumer-led donation triggers such as an on-pack mechanics;
    • Engagement and online advocacy via Kellanova websites, social media sites and other online platforms;
    • Engagement with influencers, government officials and other key stakeholders through speaking engagements, industry events and other meetings.

Those that take action expressing commitment to join Kellanova in our journey to address food security through the activities noted above will be counted toward engaging 2 billion people by the end of 2030. 

Our Journey  

Kellanova is a new company with a foundation that’s more than a century long. We are committed to carrying forth the legacy of Kellogg Company, who led with purpose to create a positive impact for people and planet. Like our name signals, we’re building on that legacy of doing good, built over the previous 117 years, while looking ambitiously toward the future. 

Progress reported below is for Kellogg Company through the end of 2022. Kellanova will report on progress toward our commitments in our initial Social and Environmental Report that we will issue in 2025.
