Our changing climate is impacting the health of people and reducing crop yields, leading to greater food insecurity. Many diverse and underserved communities are disproportionally impacted by climate change and now face higher barriers to health and access to nutritious foods. And these same communities are most at risk for undernutrition, hidden hunger and obesity.
As a global food company, we can play a role in helping to lessen the impact of climate change.
Our Commitment
As part of our Kellanova Better Days™ Promise goal to create better days for 4 billion people by the end of 2030, Kellanova commits to reach net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the value chain by 2050. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has verified Kellanova’s net-zero science-based target by 2050. The SBTi is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis.
GHG emissions are measured and aligned to the guidance outlined in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and Kellanova Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions and energy consumption are independently verified by Apex Companies LLC.
Near-Term Targets:
Long-Term Targets:
We’ve committed to the following targets as part of the SBTi Forest, Land and Agriculture (FLAG) Guidance. The SBTi’s FLAG Guidance is the world’s first framework for companies in land-intensive sectors to set science-based targets that include land-based emissions reductions and removals.

Long-Term Targets:
In 2015, Kellogg Company was one of the first companies to set science-based targets. Today, Kellanova is proving our commitment to building a sustainable world and aligning with a net-zero future.
Our Approach
As a business, we are committed to responsible corporate citizenship and a thoughtful science-based approach to climate solutions, regularly sharing lessons learned and identifying new ideas at consortiums, trainings and other events.
We believe transparency and advocacy will help drive this change to protect our planet. That's why we joined the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures. We are leveraging our global scale and voice to drive climate action and nature-based solutions for climate change issues across our supply chain.
When looking for a risk-based solution to help reduce GHG emissions, we consider the holistic landscape throughout the value chain and the latest climate science. We urge others to join us on the journey. Our approach addresses:
As we work to reduce our GHG emissions around the world, we’re leveraging a variety of programs across our value chain:

| Factory of the Future – Low and Zero Carbon Fuels | Onsite Solar | Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPA) | Bundled Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)/Green Tariffs | Unbundled RECs |
| Replace natural gas with low- and zero-carbon fuels, like hydrogen and biogas, in Kellanova's production processes. | Directly produce renewable electricity at the site (limited ability to scale). | VPPAs procure renewable electricity from a particular project and settle that electricity on the wholesale market in real-time (no changes to site utilities). | Procure renewables through a standard utility tariff with the electricity. | Procure renewables using credits from a project without the electricity. |

Levers & Programs: Scope 3
| Ingredients | Innovation and Removals | |||
| Direct investment/origins | Continuous improvement/supplier enablement | Innovation | Agricultural Removals | |
| Scaling direct investment programs such as Origins & Agribusiness projects across Kellanova’s top five most carbon-intensive crops (Oils, Wheat, Corn, Sugar, and Rice). | Engaging suppliers to set targets towards lower carbon-intensity crops and/or reducing their own emissions across Kellanova’s top five most carbon-intensive crops (Oils, Wheat, Corn, Sugar, and Rice). | Innovation across all scope 3 categories broadly. This lever is intended to demonstrate the theoretical innovation gap Kellanova will need to fill to meet net zero targets by 2050. | In-value chain GHG emissions removals (e.g., forest restoration, agroforestry, enhancing soil carbon) across all of Kellanova’s ingredients and paper-based packaging emissions. | |

Measuring our impact
GHG emissions are measured and aligned to the guidance outlined in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and are verified by a third party annually. Direct emissions reductions will be prioritized in line with SBTi criteria before reaching net-zero emissions. As of 2023, Scope 3 emissions made up 93% of Kellanova’s global GHG footprint; 68% of those emissions came from ingredients and packaging.

The road to 2050
Kellanova is a new company with a foundation that’s more than a century long. We are committed to carrying forth the legacy of Kellogg Company, who led with purpose to create a positive impact for people and planet. Like our name signals, we’re building on that legacy of doing good, built over the previous 117 years, while looking ambitiously toward the future.
